Beauty on a Budget

Published by seanachi at 5:59 pm under Money Savers Edit This

Gentlemen, sorry, this post isn’t going to do you any good.  So you just check back tomorrow unless you want to pick something up as a gift for the special lady in your life.

Now ladies, I am going to let you in on one of the best beauty secrets I have ever stumbled across.  I don’t remember where I read about it–in Allure maybe.  But since I first heard about it a few years ago, it’s grown by leaps and bounds and has been featured in more magazines than I can list here .  I’m talking about e.l.f. makeup (it stands for eyes lips face).  We’re talking beauty products that are easy on your budget.  My first order was for their Shielding Hydro-Tint, concealer, mascara, blush, and lip shine.  Oh and I ordered a bag too.  Know how much I paid for all that?  $ 10 plus shipping (which was, I think, about $5).  We’re talking $15 for my full set of makeup and a bag to put it in.  I’ve seen powder that costs that much at Walmart.

Since then e.l.f. has expanded their product lines from their original eyes, lips, and face, to include nails, makeup brushes, tools, gifts, kits, bath and body, a professional studio line of makeup, and (I am thrilled to see) mineral makeup.  Mineral makeup has been all the rage the last couple of years.  But it’s a seriously expensive proposition.

How much is a starter kit of Bare Minerals?   $60 plus shipping and handling.  The starter kit at e.l.f.?  $20.  And if you already have the brushes (because you’ve tried some other mineral makeup like Physician’s Formula, which is what I presently use), you can pick up the individual items (foundation, concealer, and blush) for $5 apiece.  Ladies, these prices absolutely cannot be beat.  And the quality is as good as any other makeup out there.

And for those of you looking for gifts for your girlfriends e.l.f. has a section where you can look at gift sets at various price points: $5 and under, $10 and under, and $20 and under.   You can’t even buy a plain lipstick at Walmart for less than $5 these days.  I personally have my eye on their French manicure set for myself…

So ladies, take stock of your makeup.  Figure out what you need to achieve your confident look and check out e.l.f. to see what products they have that can help you achieve it for less.  I promise, you won’t regret it.
